Filmmaker Vikas Bahl's romantic comedy film `Shaandaar` starring Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt has received an overwhelming response in global markets. The film has collected $2.1 million during its opening weekend.
`Shaandaar`, which released on Thursday on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, is doing well internationally. The film's opening weekend collection internationally is the highest for Shahid, read a statement.
The film collected $449,556 in the US and $258,519 in Britain. In Pakistan, where `Shaandaar` released on Sunday, the film did well as it collected $64,400.
Some of Shahid's other films which did well abroad during their run include `Haider` ($2.2 million), `Phata Poster Nikhla Hero` ($1.1 million) and `R... Rajkumar` ($1.5 million).
However, `Shaandaar`, which also stars Pankaj Kapur, Sanjay Kapoor and Sanah Kapoor, among others, didn't get a good response at the Indian box office as its collections dwindled over the weekend, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Shahrukh Khan's surrogacy story true or false?
As the 'it-is-true' and 'it-is-true-not' speculations continue over the news of SRK's family going for a third kid via surrogacy, Jaslok Hospital has confirmed that they have not conducted this procedure for SRK, as reported by the media.It was reported that Gauri visited the same doctor as Aamir & Kiran. However, Dr. Firuza Parikh, has confirmed that he has not conducted the surrogacy for Mr & Mrs Shahrukh Khan.
The question is, why is there no denial from SRK's end, if the news is false? Or are they holding on for a special date, to make the announcement?
OR, is this all a publicity stunt for SRK's 'Chennai Express' given that this seems the perfect timing to do so?

Deepika Padukone & Ranbir Kapoor teamed up after a gap of five years (the last time being the 2008 hit, Bachna Ae Haseeno) for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD).
One of the projects that has been in the news is Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming Ranbir-starrer. It’s believed that the director (who made Rockstar with Ranbir in 2011) has been in a dilemma over the female lead for a while.
The yet-untitled project, to be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, was always confirmed to star Ranbir. Now, we have learnt that Imtiaz has decided to bring back the currently hot pairing by roping in Deepika for the role.
“They haven’t put things on paper yet, but after YJHD, Imtiaz is sure about Deepika,” says an industry insider.
Deepika, of course, is known to share a great equation with the director, whom she worked with in Love Aaj Kal (2009). “They have been in touch. Imtiaz has already discussed the film and storyline with her. And she seems impressed,” the insider adds.
Interestingly, other names like Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt were doing the rounds as probable female leads too. “But what went in Deepika’s favour is her chemistry with Ranbir in YJHD,” adds the insider. The film, in all likelihood, will hit the floors around January 2014. “By that time, the hype over YJHD would be over, so Imtiaz can start his film on a new note.”
